Big Giveaway Bash!

Welcome to my new location! If you, by chance, have my blog in your favorites or bookmarked on your computer, be sure to update it with this new address!

Why did I change? For several different reasons, which I won't bore you with. ;-) One of the main ones is so that, if/when I'm ever published, I'll already have a well-developed site with my name as the url and tons of awesome followers! As I said, there are a few other reasons. Also, I've changed my blogger account name to "Katie McCurdy" now, instead of "Katy". Not a big deal if you forget or mix it up - I've always answered to both. No worries. Just wanted to explain the name change. ;-)

So! What do you think?! I'd love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to chat with me in the comment section! I'm still working on getting out some bugs on my end, but hope it all clears up within a few days. If you have a moment, fill out the poll on the left side of this blog, right above the giveaway links. It is a bit slow at loading up for me, but my internet has been as slow as a snail for the past week, so it might just be me. :-)

Okay! Are y'all ready??

Awesome!!!

So, let's see what I have set up! As I mentioned before, this is in celebration of my birthday, my blog move, and to say THANK YOU to all my faithful followers! At the other site I accumulated 241 followers. That's just an amazing number and made possible by all y'all who read my posts, leave comments, and encourage me to keep writing. :-) I'm sure I'll drop a few sleepers, but I hope to also gain new people. (If you've just discovered my blog, feel free to say so when entering the giveaway! Welcome, all!)

GIVEAWAY:

As I mentioned before, I have three bundles to give away to three individual winners. We'll go from biggest to smallest, here, so let's take a peak at the first bundle!

Giveaway Bundle 1
Surrender the Dawn

Take Two

In the Shadow of Evil

Giveaway Bundle 2
Surrender the Dawn

Love's First Bloom

Giveaway Bundle 3
Surrender the Dawn

Pretty sweet, no?! As you can see, all three winners will get a copy of MaryLu's newest release, Surrender the Dawn. I've read the previous two in the series, and have this one sitting in my tbr pile, and I've got to tell you - MaryLu is good!! :-D Okay, so the way this will go down is as follows...

The winners will be chosen with the aid of random.org. The first number I pull gets Giveaway Bundle 1, the second number I pull gets Giveaway Bundle 2, and so forth for the last bundle. Along with these books, the winners can also expect bookmarks to be added before shipping - though what kind of bookmarks will be a surprise.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have a date set in my head, as well as a certain (high) number of entries. Whichever it hits first (the deadline or required entries) is when I will end the giveaway. I thought that would add a bit of fun to the giveaway. So don't delay in entering! :-D

Okay, now to the rules. In order to be entered you MUST be a follower and you MUST leave your email address in your initial entry (like this: accountname(at)place(dot)com). USA only (sorry guys, it gets pricey shipping all this!) Since this is just a big, fun giveaway, the question you have to answer to enter is fun!

Mandatory Entry:
Answer this question: Who is your favorite author? Which book by them could you say is your favorite.

Extra Entries:
- Grab my new blog button(+1)
- Subscribe by email(+1)
- Spread the word! Post about this giveaway on your blog, Facebook, or Twitter and leave a link(+2) Special: Tell your friends to mention you sent them. When I see this in a comment, you get two additional entries on top of the two for spreading the word. :-D

Pretty easy and simple, right? Right!  So....get to entering! And feel free to leave any comments and suggestions, I'm still playing around with this site and how the weekly posts are going to go from now on. :-D

Katy, love your new digs! It's always nice to get things organized just the way you want them. :o)

Hmmm....favorite author... Without a doubt, my all-time favorite is Francine Rivers and her book, Redeeming Love. I think that particular book is a favorite for many people. But if you were asking what my current, just-read favorite is, I'd have to say To Die For by Sandra Byrd. Finished that one up earlier this week, and I still can't get over how great it was!

I'm a follower over here now, and am about to grab your button, too. Thanks for the giveaway!! :o)

Katy -- Since I love this spelling, I'll keep calling you that for a while, at least. :)

I only get to choose ONE favorite author? That's nearly impossible. I'm going to say Grace Livingston Hill. My absolute favorite book by her is easy: "Crimson Roses." :) Such a sweet one!

Oh, and I'll just tell you in this entry...I'm having trouble getting your button, because it doesn't have the text box with the code under it. If that gets resolved, I'll definitely put it on my blog!

Christy - Thanks! :-D I know, I had so much fun setting this all up!

Francine River's is pretty popular. I've read the five books she did on the woman in Jesus' line - Tamar, Rahab, Bathsheba, Ruth, and Mary - and liked them!! I haven't read Redeeming Love, though, but I've heard good things about it. :-)

Charity - sure, go right ahead! I answer to both and love both! ;-)

I know! Isn't it hard to name one author?! I haven't read anything by Grace Hill - I'll have to look up Crimson Roses now, though! Sounds neat!

Okay, no problem, Charity. If it works better, I can email you the picture. I don't have the html code for it (hope to sometime soon, though, but idk how to do that yet!). If you do get it posted, just stop by here again and let me know! :-)

Happy Birthday, Katie! I hope you have a great celebration full of... well... great books! :D

All right, favorite author. Hmm.... I don't have a lot of favorite authors, per se, I just have favorite series and books.

Currently, I love Suzanne Collins and her Hunger Games, Catherine Fisher and Incarceron, Kenneth Oppel and Airborn, and Scott Westerfeld and Leviathan.

Katie McCurdy said...

Oh, and btw, Christy, I should be getting To Die For in the mail sometime next week. I can't wait for it to come in. It looks good! I noticed you just posted a review on it. I'm going over there right now to read your thoughts, but I saw you gave it 5 stars. Coolio!!

Katie McCurdy said...

Ellyn - Thank you! I started a book today that I've been looking forward to reading, kinda in celebration of my bday. So, ya, its full of great books!!

I've seen Hunger Games around, but haven't looked into it much. Neat. I'll keep those titles in mind!

Happy Birthday, Katie! I wish you all the best in the year to come! :)

My favourite author... hmmm... I'll have to say Chuck Black. In my opinion, his book, Sir Bentley and Holbrook Court, has just the right amount of both romance and action!

I'm an e-mail subscriber!

I have your new blog button on my blog! By the way, you might want to paste this code under the button:

{center}{textarea rows="5" cols="23" style="WIDTH: 215px; HEIGHT: 60px"}<center><a href="http://katie-mccurdy.blogspot.com/"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NaffB0fEIa4/TjhZR0gRscI/AAAAAAAABNM/4GyEWZDfIJc/s170/legacybutton3.png" border="0" /></a></center>{/textarea}{/center}

Just change the "{" into "<", the "}" into ">", the "<" into "&l t; (without the pause)", and the ">" into "&g t; (without the pause)". It'll make the button a whole lot easier to grab! ;)

Love the look of your new blog by the way! :)

Whew, you certainly don't make this easy.

Is it okay to have them all?? :o)

Penny - Thank you! You're confidence and encouragement are such a blessing. Yes, I will be writing, as much as I can! :-D Thanks!

Faye - Thanks! I've seen The Mermaid in the Basement before, but haven't read it yet. It looks good, though!!!

Sheri - I know! It's so hard to pick a favorite. I'm not strict, and as long as you name some of your top favorites, your in!!! Hope you win something, this time. It's kind of funny, because I seem to go through seasons - sometimes I'll win a few in a row, and then go a few months without winning zip. :-P lol

I've read all three of those authors and liked em! Ronie Kendig's Wolfsbane was awesome! I need to get Dead Reckoning now!! :-)

Hi, Katy!!! Oh, wow, what a BEAUTIFUL new blog you have!!!!! I mean, I loved your previous one, but this one is even MORE beautiful!! CONGRATS on the new look!! AWESOME!!

Now, of course I'm entering the giveway! But the question you ask is a tough one! I can't say I have ONE favorite author...I have several. In the classics genre, I would have to say Charlotte Bronte, and my favorite book is "Jane Eyre", naturally! In the fantasy genre, it's definitely J.R.R. Tolkien, and my favorite is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. In the YA genre, which in this case includes fantasy & romance, it's most assuredly Lisa Bergren!! I'm now wrapping up "Cascade", which, as you know, is part of The River of Time series, which I adore!! In the YA paranormal genre, it's Stephenie Meyer, and the book is "Twilight", which I absolutely love!! As for Christian books, I haven't read many -- something I intend to rectify -- but I would have to say it's Lloyd C. Douglas, who wrote a very moving, very beautiful novel titled "The Robe". That's my favorite one, although he also wrote another titled "Magnificent Obsession", which I also loved. Both were later made into movies (in the 1950's). The one for "The Robe" did not do the novel justice AT ALL.

Anyway...I could go on and on, but I won't. I'll get carried away! Lol.

My e-mail address is:
twilightdreamlover@boxbe.com

Thanks for the TERRIFIC giveaway!!

My favorite author? Wow. That's impossible. It varies by the day, and by what genre I feel like reading, and what book I just finished... Luckily my sister is a librarian (yay for the librarians!) and she just gives me awesome lists of books to read when I say "I liked this one!" (Note to all - if you get stuck, just ask a librarian for help. They really do know their books.)

My email is richelle [at] ahlvers [dot] net.

Happy birthday, happy writing, and good luck with the new blog.

Maria!!! Hey there! So good to see you here. Thanks, girl. I'm loving this new blog, too! :-) Haha, awesome! I know, isn't it a hard one?! But as long as you name a few, you're in. So, no worries.

Okay, what an AWESOME list! Let's see...

Classic - I recently watched a Jane Eyre (Can't remember which year this version was) but I really liked it. Very neat!

Fantasy - Oh really? Cool! I just got the three-movie series for my birthday and am eager to way it! I've heard only good things about it (besides that it's a bit gory. But I'm okay with that. ;-)

YA Genre - Oh. My. Word. YES! Lisa Bergren's River of Time series is totally, completely, and awesomely AMAZING!!!! Love, love, LOVE it!!!

YA Paranormal - I haven't read Twilight, but judging from your blogger profile pic, it wasn't hard to guess! ;-) lol

Christian - I've seen The Robe, but haven't read it yet. I'll have to check it out. Hmm, Magnificent Obsession? Sounds intriguing!

Haha, I know what you mean! I feel like you and I could "talk books" all day long and never get tired!! :-P lol

Richelle - Haha! Okay, I seriously think you can always tell a true book lover just by asking them who's their favorite author is. If they so "Uhh...just ONE???" then they're a book lover! :-P lol

Ohh, a sister who is a librarian. That's awesome! Neat-o!

Thanks Richelle!!

Depending on what genre I'm reading dictates who my favorite author is. BUT, I LOVE Ronie Kendig's Rapid Fire Fiction writing and her Discarded Heroes military suspense series!!!

I will say Terri Blackstock but if you ask tomorrow I may say something different. My goal in reading is to read 20 books a month. Is hard to pick a favorite. Every book by her I will say is a favorite and the next one I read will then become the favorite. I have never read one of hers I didn't like.

yButler - I just got a book from Terri Blackstock that I am excited about reading. Awesome goal you have there, by the way! I've tried reaching that goal, but only made it once or twice, lol!

Well that's awesome! I love authors that you can always count on to give you great fiction!

Thanks for letting me know you're under "Anonymous"! :-)
